How's this for cool though? Can you imagine your college career starting in high school? Now, can you imagine being a couple years ahead of the rest of your classmates when it comes to higher education and then placement in the working world? Now...what if I told you you can do all this and earn your associates degree, and high school diploma FREE! You heard me right folks... FREE!
It's part of the Early College Program in Muskegon County. "Students can apply for Early College during their 10th grade year. Applications are available in the high school counselor’s office or by clicking on the link below. Students must have at least a 2.5 GPA, be able to reach set scores on the MCC placement test, and be on track to graduate high school. Students should see their high school guidance counselor for additional requirements set by their home-based district."
It's an amazing way to save your family a lot of money on tuition and give your student the jump on the working world while keeping them in the educational state of mind. The college classes are folded right into the high school work and vise versa. It's an incredible opportunity and it's open to just about anyone.
I was able to catch up with Lee Andrews who is the Dean of Early College for Muskegon County out at the Stevenson Center out at Muskegon Community College to learn a little more. Take a listen to our chat below!
Think of all that money saved and those participants jump start on the rest of their lives. This is truly an awesome opportunity for any person wanting to go on to higher education. If that's not enough, think of it this way. A couple years ahead now...means they will move out a couple years sooner than if they dragged it out traditionally! Sound like something you are in to? Click on the Early College Banner Below for all the details!
